ASH
A young man travels through an inhospitable environment following signs left by other travelers.
I created this film during the pandemic. It carries themes of isolation and hope of future reunification with loved ones. Most importantly, how the kindness of strangers allows him to make a flavorful meal.
This film won “Best Narrative Short” at the Eerie Pennsylvania International Film Festival.
I came up with the story of ASH on a nature walk in Central Pennsylvania.
In the late summer of 2020, I took many walks through the Letort Nature Trail. Cutting through the center stood a stone mill of sorts. It captured my imagination, and I began to see my surroundings in a new light.
The combination of the interesting industrial structures and the remains of a controlled burn sparked the idea I turned into ASH.
